Sr. Software Developer

Joinsmall team building a big impact product. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us design and implement software that turns large volumes of raw data into attractive and actionable business insights. You’ll have the opportunity to build the first versions of many parts of our data processing and microservice architecture.

Technologies We’re Using

  • Our web layer is primarily built with ReactJS and Plotly.
  • On our server side, we’re building restful micro-services with Javascript, Node.js, and
  • AWS services like DyanmoDB, SNS and Lambdas.
  • Our data pipeline leverages technologies like Presto, Spark, Python, SQL and S3.

Responsibilities

  • Craft innovative features and solutions for our business facing SaaS product
  • Work on a highly collaborative agile team with skilled teammates
  • Develop and deploy solutions independently and as a team member
  • Produce high-quality, well-architected solutions with an upfront focus on testing and long-term support
  • Design and implement enterprise-grade data processing and visualization solutions for scalable, multi-tenant web applications
  • Champion test standards and best practices for data pipelines and web application development
  • Collaborate across business teams
  • Listen and communicate ideas effectively with respectful and responsive interactions
  • Adopt a team player approach by doing what needs to be done and cheering each other on

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to mentor and influence other developers within the team
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and operating cloud-based applications.
  • Expertise in one or more object oriented programming language (e.g. Python,
  • Javascript, Java) and the eagerness to learn more
  • Familiar with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, SNS, SQS, SES.
  • Experience working in a test-driven development, continuous integration and continuous deployment environment.
  • 5+ years as a professional software developer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Maths or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Plus: experience with building and maintaining large scale data processing pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Hadoop, or Spark.

Data Engineer

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to help us design and implement software that turns large volumes of raw data into attractive and actionable business insights. You’ll have the opportunity to build the first versions of our data processing architecture.

What You’ll Do

  • Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and developing new datasets.
  • Extracting and combining data from various heterogeneous data sources
  • Modelling data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting
  • Designing, implementing and supporting a platform that can provide ad-hoc access to large datasets as well as a ‘hands-off’ automated pipeline
  • Work on a highly collaborative agile team with skilled teammates
  • Champion test standards and best practices for data pipelines
  • Collaborate across business teams
  • Listen and communicate ideas effectively with respectful and responsive interactions

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to connect business purpose to data-driven analysis.
  • Experience working with Python (dataframes, scikit-learn), SQL, Spark.
  • Experience working with Machine Learning Algorithms (Linear, Logistic, Decision Tress, Random Forests, Support Vector Machines, Neural Networks, KNN, etc)
  • Proficient in handling unstructured/structured data, including analyzing and troubleshooting complex data for quality and integrity.
  • Experience with building and maintaining large-scale data processing pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Hadoop, or Spark.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Maths or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
